# Show Judge.me reviews on Brew upsells

# Show Judge.me reviews on Brew upsells

**Applies to:** Post-purchase offers, checkout upsells, and Thank you page upsells in Brew. The post-purchase Reviews module requires the Judge.me **Awesome** plan. Available on all Brew plans.

Brew can pull your real Judge.me reviews into the moments where a shopper is deciding on an offer. There are two separate pieces, and it helps to understand that they work differently.

The first is the **Reviews module** on post-purchase offer pages. It shows full review cards — star rating, review text, reviewer name, and optionally photos, dates, and product names — along with a shop-wide summary row with your average rating and total review count. This piece needs your Judge.me API token, because Brew reads the reviews live from Judge.me.

The second is **star ratings on upsell products** at checkout and on the Thank you page. This piece does not need the token at all. Judge.me already syncs a rating and review count to every product in Shopify as metafields, and Brew simply reads those. If Judge.me is installed on your store, this works out of the box.

The integration is **read-only** in both cases. Brew displays your reviews; it never creates, edits, or deletes anything in Judge.me. Only **published** reviews are shown — hidden or unpublished reviews never appear. Reviewer names appear exactly as configured in your Judge.me display settings, so if your Judge.me widgets show "John" instead of a full name, so will Brew.

## Connect Judge.me to Brew

### Step 1: Copy your Judge.me Private API Token

1. In your Judge.me admin, go to **Settings**, then **Integrations**.
2. Click **View API tokens**.
3. Copy the **Private** token.

Make sure it is the **Private** token. The public token will not work, and a failed connection is almost always this.

### Step 2: Connect the token in Brew

1. In your Shopify admin, open **Brew** and go to **Settings**, then **Integrations**.
2. On the Judge.me card, click **Connect** Judge.me.
3. Paste the token and click **Save API Token**.
4. Click **Test Connection**. You should see a success message with your review count.

The token is encrypted at rest and never appears in logs or error messages. Once connected, you can use the toggle on the Judge.me card to switch the integration on and off at any time without removing the token.

## Add a Reviews module to a post-purchase offer

Open your post-purchase offer in the Brew editor and add the **Reviews** module to the page.

Under **Which reviews**, choose where the reviews come from:

* **Products from offer** shows reviews for the products in the offer itself.
* **Selected products** shows reviews for up to 10 products you pick yourself.

Then configure how they display:

* **Layout**: List or Carousel.
* **Number of reviews**: up to 100. Set it to 0 to show only the heading and summary row.
* **Minimum rating**: for example, 4 stars and up.
* Toggles for the **summary row**, **review photos**, **dates**, and **product names**.

**Save** and publish the offer.

Until Judge.me is connected and enabled, the Reviews module stays hidden for shoppers. The offer itself will still show - only the reviews section is hidden.

## Show star ratings on upsell products

In a checkout upsell block or in the Thank you page upsell settings, enable **Show product reviews**.

The default metafield keys, `reviews.rating` and `reviews.rating_count`, are the ones Judge.me syncs, so no further setup is needed. You only need to change the keys if your store uses a different review app or custom metafields.

## A note on timing

New reviews do not appear instantly. Judge.me takes a few minutes to process a new review on its side, and Brew caches reviews for up to about 10 minutes. If a customer just left a review and you do not see it in an offer yet, wait a few minutes and check again before troubleshooting.

## Troubleshoot

### You see a "Judge.me is not connected" banner in the offer editor

Judge.me is not connected, or the integration toggle is off. Connect it in Brew under **Settings**, then **Integrations**. The Reviews module stays hidden for shoppers until this is done.

### Test Connection fails

You most likely copied the public token instead of the **Private** one, or the token belongs to a different store. Re-copy the Private token from Judge.me under **Settings**, then **Integrations**, then **View API tokens**, and save it again.

### The Reviews module shows no reviews

Only **published** reviews are shown. Check whether the products you selected actually have published reviews, whether your minimum rating filter is set too high, and whether the review is brand new and still syncing. Lower the filter, pick different products, or wait a few minutes.

### Star ratings do not appear on upsell products

Confirm that Judge.me's metafield sync is active for your store, and that the metafield keys in Brew match what Judge.me syncs: `reviews.rating` and `reviews.rating_count` by default.
